Men's Cross Country National poll

MENOMONIE (November 13, 2012) - The UW-Stout men's cross country team moved up to 25th  in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III poll after a strong finish at the Midwest Regional Meet.

The Blue Devils, buoyed by a first place finish by Tim Nelson (Sr, Augusta), a nationally-qualifying 13th place finish by Patrick Jenkins (So, Cambridge) and an all-region 32nd place finish by Mitch Easker (Sr, Antigo), to rank the highest the team has ranked in the national poll. The seventh place finish was Stout's best finish as a team since the 1998 team placed eighth.

At the Midwest Regional at Lake Breeze Golf Course in Winneconne, Saturday, Stout placed seventh as a team. The Midwest Region has had as many as 11 nationally ranked teams in it throughout the year, and 10 teams were nationally ranked entering the regional race.

Nelson and Jenkins will compete at the NCAA Division III Men's Cross Country Championship, Saturday, Nov. 17, in Terre Haute, Ind.  The event is hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
