NAPERVILLE, Ill (March 8, 2013) - UW-Stout's Jessika Smith (Jr, Onalaska) finished second in the pentathlon at the 2013 NCAA Division III Track and Field Championships Friday at North Central College.

Smith set a school record with 3441 points, breaking the mark of 3354 she set at the 2013 WIAC Championships two weeks ago.

In the individual events within the pentathlon, Smith finished seventh in the hurdles and 15th in the high jump, then pulled herself up steadily by second in the shot put and the long jump and fifth in the 500-meter run.

Smith also competed in the individual long jump competition, placing 13th with a mark of 17-1.25.

Andrea Krueger (Jr, Menomonie) competed in the pole vault, finishing 10th with a mark of 11-9.75, her second best jump of the season. Krueger was seeded 12th heading into the event.

After four events in the men's heptathlon, Stout's Zach Anderson (Jr, Frederic) was seventh, with three events remaining.

As a team, Stout finished in a tie for 23rd.
