Blue Devil Radio & Video

The majority of Blue Devil Athletics football and basketball games are broadcast on WMEQ 880-AM radio. To fill in the gaps for home football and basketball games where no commercial radio coverage is available, UW-Stout, with the use of Blue Devil Radio, will continue to produce our own broadcasts. Blue Devil Video this year introduced internet home hockey games broadcast live from the Dunn County Ice Arena. Blue Devil Video is available for most home basketball games. Baseball and softball schedules are tentative, due to a finicky wireless network. Both Blue Devil Radio and Blue Devil Video are student-produced. Click here for the updated schedule.

You may also want to see stats updated to go along with the radio and video play-by-play and action. In your browser, go back to either the front page of Blue Devils Athletics where a link should appear in a brief game preview or the front page of the sport you are listening to, scroll to the bottom of the page and and click on Live Stats.

To listen to Blue Devil Radio & Video, you must have WindowsMedia Player (although Real Player has worked) installed on your computer. To view Blue Devil Athletics Video, you must have WindowsMedia Player 9.0 or above installed on your computer. If you do not have Windows MediaPlayer, it is available as a free download at: Windows Media Player.

The WIAC has a contract with When We Were Young Productions (WWWYP) to video broadcast a number of games on FSN-Wisconsin and Charter On-Demand. WWWYP has exclusive rights to these games and Blue Devil Video will not broadcast those games.

To listen to Blue Devil Radio or watch Blue Devil Video:

  • Listen Here | Watch Here

  1. Open Windows Media Player
  2. Under File, pull down the option: Open URL (or, in the newer players, Ctrl+U)
  3. Type or copy & paste in the address listed below. If you are typing, be certain all the letters are correct and in the proper order. http://www.uwstout.edu/lts/multimedia/streams/sports/uwstoutsports.wvx (this may change from game to game, so check in about 10 minutes before game time)
  4. The Windows Media Player should spend a few seconds buffering (getting set up) and you should enjoy live Blue Devil action shortly. Broadcasting is scheduled to begin about five minutes before game time.
  5. Flip4Mac would come in handy for a Macintosh system

We Need Your Help

Upon conclusion of this broadcast, please take a moment to send us an e-mail about your experience. Were you able to connect? How was the sound? Were you able to recreate in your mind what what was happening on the field or court? Is there enough talking...or too much? Let us know if you were listening on a PC or a Macintosh...through a wireless connection, a hardwire DSL or cable connection, or a dial-up connection.

E-mail pittl@uwstout.edu for feedback. Blue Devil Athletics would like to make these broadcasts a regular feature, but we need to know how to make it work even better.

Please keep in mind there are no radio professionals, simply students learning as we go. Because this is not commercial radio, there are no commercials. That means you will get the announcer, all the time. There may be silent breaks between halves and during timeouts. We will be right back.
